Recanto dos Pássaros

A refuge for the earth and its inhabitants

A few kilometers from the village of Cavalcante, on the edge of the forest, nestles a discreet yet vibrant place: the Recanto dos Pássaros – literally, the Birds’ Corner. Here, birdsong opens the day, paths wind between orchards and hills, and time passes in a different way, to the rhythm of the seasons and the hands that sow.

Neither a farm, nor a center, nor a school in the classical sense, the Recanto is a living space of welcome, transmission and reconnection with nature. We come here to learn, to share and to breathe. We also come to remember that the earth is an ally, and that it can nourish, heal and teach.

Carefully cultivated land

Since 2017, ABRAM has been committed to the agroecological and human revitalization of the Recanto. This partnership began with the Semeando na Janela project, an educational initiative aimed at sowing both seeds in the earth and ideas in people’s minds. It continued with the Indaiando project, focusing on plant knowledge, local biodiversity and care practices.

Today, through the Semeando project, ABRAM runs a genuine agro-ecology learning center, open to young people, volunteers, local families and visiting travelers. We organize :

– training in permaculture and agroecology,

– workshops for children and teenagers,

– solidarity immersions,

– stays to rejuvenate and discover the Cerrado.

All in a simple, inclusive and joyful approach, without dogma or pretension.

A place of passage and anchorage

The Recanto has become one of ABRAM’s main anchor points in Brazil. Here, new projects are welcomed, teams are trained, seeds, ideas and alliances are prepared.

It’s also a place for social and ecological experimentation, where links are forged between people from different backgrounds: students, alumni, agronomists, craftsmen, neighbors, visiting researchers. Everyone brings something of themselves. And everyone receives something from the land.

Where the earth teaches differently

At Recanto, we grow more than just vegetables. We cultivate patience, cooperation and attention to the living.

And we learn that taking care of the earth also means taking care of ourselves, of others, and of the world we want to pass on.
